Claude Code Action

An official GitHub Action for asking Claude to review, answer, triage, or implement work in issues and pull requests.

What it helps with

Claude Code Action brings Claude into GitHub issues, pull requests, and scheduled workflows. A developer-led SMB can use it for code review, issue triage, documentation, or bounded implementation on its own runners. It supports Anthropic API credentials and several cloud-provider identity paths, and includes actor checks and security guidance. It is not a non-technical automation: repository permissions, untrusted input, allowed tools, secrets, commit rights, and usage cost all require careful workflow design.

Best fit

Best for teams already using GitHub Actions and Claude Code; not for public repositories without a security-reviewed trust model.

Setup reality

Needs developer and repository-admin access for the GitHub app, workflow YAML, secrets or workload identity, and permissions.

License context

Permissive licenseBusiness use and modification are generally allowed. Keep required notices and review trademarks, dependencies, and hosted-service terms.

MIT for the action. Claude Code, GitHub, Anthropic API, and cloud providers retain separate service terms and charges.
